elcome to the Mary Martin and the Tuna Band Website. The Ninth Street Tuna Band was formed in Cleveland Ohio in 1977. From an era where ego was king, lines were seldom fuzzy and bands were named after big animals, a group of misfits needed an identity. (Get the drift here?) Founding members Albert Dennis, Marji Cohen, Mary Martin and Leo Ryan became that Cleveland street gang bent on forging an original sound that blended their personal passions from blues to jazz and all the colors in between.

Somewhere in the 80’s the band simply became known as the Tuna Band. An advent of the finest players Northern Ohio ever made passed through its ranks. The Band stretched its road chops up and down the east coast and back and forth to Chicago. With the 90’s approaching, the band went silent. Mary continued with a solo career and a decade as an award-winning audio producer. While the Tuna spirit remains somewhere in the air, these recordings are now available for you at this site as well as many fine record shops.
